Raw Banana fried balls Stew (Kache Kele ka kofta)

These yummy kofta's are one of our traditional dishes... It's one of those dishes, which we grew up eating..  It does take little effort to make, but it's taste worth all the hard work...

I learnt to make this delicious Kofta by my mom. Traditional foods are always too yummy to resist.. Yesterday, my daughter had it for 1st time, and I am glad she relished it..


Ingredients- 
  1. Raw Banana ( Kacha kela)- 1 big
  2. Potato - 1
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Onion(big) - 1/2 (for the grvy)
  5. Tomato - 1 big (for gravy)
  6. Green Chilli - 1 (chopped)
  7. Garlic- 2 cloves (for gravy)
  8. Ginger paste - 1/2 tsp (for gravy)
  9. Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
  10. Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  11. Coriander powder-  1/2 tsp
  12. Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
  13. Oil - 4 tbsp
Directions - 
  • Boil Raw banana and potato together. Peel of the skin.

  • Mash them in a bowl together.
  • Add salt, red chili and coriander powder and mix them in a dough of potato and banana.

  • Divide the dough in equal parts and make a round balls or give it a shape of cylinder. Whatever you prefer.
  • I fried these Kofta's in Appe pan, with just few drops of oil. If you do not have Appe Pan, you can shallow fry them with minimal oil in tava.
  • Transfer them in a serving dish.
  • Grind Onion and garlic together.
  • Add it in a pan, simultaneously add ginger paste and tomato paste in the pan.
  • Stir, and add salt with turmeric powder, red chilli powder, cumin powder and coriander powder.
  • Fry them till the paste turns brown in color, and starts leaving oil in a pan.

  • Add a glass of water in a pan. and make a liquid of the paste.
  • Bring the liquid to boil and let it get cooked for 2-3 minutes.
  • Close the flame. Transfer this curry liquid to the serving dish where you have already kept your fried balls.

  • Garnish it with chopped cilantro leaves.
  • Serve it hot, enjoy it with Tortilla/ roti.
